Ignoble Effort was inspired by the works of some of my favorite illustrators and comics artists who have had a profound impact on my personal aesthetic and sense of humor - Edward Gorey, Dame Darcy, Mike Mignola, and Aubrey Beardsley to name a few.
I designed this semi-formal collection for a modern sophisticated woman who appreciates classic vintage lines and high-quality materials. I think I have a “Lemony Snickett” sense of time and style: a little Victorian, a little mid-century, a little 1920s, and a little modern. While the inspiration comes from all over the place, the line comes together into what I call “Storybook Gothic.”
While Designing these looks I envisioned each one worn by an original character worthy of her own story: The Woman in Slate, Queen Anne’s Revenge, and Ophelia in the Mall Fountain. I had a lot of fun creating these looks and I hope you have fun looking at them.
