This linen jersey chemise was inspired by the delicate undergarments of the early 20th century. If you are lucky enough to see the genuine articles in person, you’d be amazed by the delicacy and intricacy of the lace and stitching. I wanted to make an updated version that could be worn as a light summer dress. I used 5 different vintage laces from my collection as well as a deadstock silk ribbon for the decolletage, sleeves, and waist. I was impressed by how easily and beautifully the lace joined with the jersey, as it’s sometimes a challenge to join weaves and knits.
